Regarding Topic7: Emerging Trends and Technologies——AR Dressing Rooms in Traditional Malay Clothing Stores

Learning Content: When I visited Malacca, I went to a century-old traditional Malay clothing store. They introduced AR virtual fitting technology. I found this way of trying on clothes particularly novel. Although customers didn't actually try on the clothes, it could still reproduce about 80% of the effect. Customers could "try on" various colors and styles of Baju Kurung through the in-store tablet, saving the time of changing clothes and making it easier for them to make a purchase decision.

                                               

However, in fact, the AR fitting technology is not yet realistic enough in reproducing the luster and drape of traditional fabric. When customers try on clothes, they can only roughly see the color and whether it suits them, and whether the style can show off their figure's advantages. Many other requirements, such as the details of the cut, whether the neckline or armpit will be tight, etc., cannot be met.

Business application: This is a typical case of the traditional clothing industry using technology to enhance the experience of young consumers. This way of trying on clothes reminds me of the emerging trends and technologies in Topic 7. Through this travel experience, I felt that AR technology can really effectively enhance the happiness of life. We should make more use of this technology to enrich people's daily lives.
